Mounted Mids and Tweeter in dash speaker cover plate.

After much thought on where to install my mids and tweeters in my "89" C4, I finally decided to mount them onto the stock dash cover plate. Since I had the Bose system, underneath the dash speaker grill was a solid piece of plastic that I was able to cut holes in to mount the 3 1/2" Kicker midrange and Pioneer tweeter. I decided to mount them in this location because I did not like the door speaker locations since they are so low and far forward and also, because I wanted the mid and tweeter mounted close together. After I mounted the speakers, I recovered the grills with black springy mesh type cloth I bought from a fabric store for $1.62 (1/8 of a yard). Both speakers are connected to a Pioneer mosfet head unit, tweeters are on the front speaker outputs and the midrange speakers are on the rear speaker outputs so I can fade between the two speakers. I have an Infinity 10" subwoofer in a sealed enclosure powered by a 200 watt amp hooked up to the pre-amp outputs of the deck. The mid and tweeter combo really sound crisp and clear. I like the dash location because the sound really reflects back into the seating positions. Here are the pictures. [Modified by GKK, 11:12 AM 4/19/2004]
