Default 93 Bose Gold Problems

The cd player won't work on my 93. The radio & the tape player still work but the cd is dead. After reading some post here, I think I will replace the whole system instead of the radio alone because of the price & from what I understand, the bose speakers aren't compatible with an aftermarket radio.
My question are:
1. What size is my radio 1.5 or 2 din?
2. Is there more under my dash besides the radio that I have to remove?
I read that the radio is not the same as the receiver on my 93 & installing an aftermarket unit requires removal of the receiver.
Can you guys help or should I just take it to a dealer & have the stock unit fixed?

The CD player crapping out is so common. There are companies that do rebuilds on this unit. Maybe do a web search. Good luck.

I have read that so often here. That is why I am thinking of replacing the whole thing with aftermarket also because of the cost of a rebuilt bose radio. Thanks for the imput though.
I have e-mailed the sponsor here (Hookedontronics.com) over a week ago with no response so I am still asking.
Thanks.
