Default C4 Door Speaker Install

I am tearing apart my doors right now, with the notion that I am going to install some 6.5" drivers there...

The problem is I can't get the inner section of the door out (the aluminum inner bracket that holds everything from the door handle hardware to wiring, etc.).

Does anyone out there know of the secret to ge this part out. I've looked in my shop manual and chilton manual and I am not getting what I need. I'm about to unleash the BFH on the project. :banghead:

Thanks for the help.

I usually need a SFH to get it back in, but getting it out is usually no problem.

On my 94 it goes like this:

In addition to the several hex-head screws around the edge, there's a phillips screw towards the back. Also remove the lower bolt on the rear window-stop, and it helps to loosen the top bolt on the stop (might want to mark it so you get it back in the same place.)

Now you have to disconnect the two rods inside (door lock and door handle) in several places. Now that everything is loose, move the panel down in the door until you can get the top edge through the opening. Then you have to unplug the wiring from the door lock solenoid.

This is from memory, so I may have forgotten something...

I was wondering if I'd need to play with the window bracket... I hate it that it is so cold here now. I can't stand working on it even in the garage. I miss my SoCal days.

Thanks for the assist!
