Default LCD screen and DVD controller questions

I'm looking at this clarion screen at the zeb. The specs are good and I'm (pretty sure) it will fit.
http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/clarion_VMA6593.html

I've got some questions about how to control it.

I know that I could go with an Alpine 7996 DVD controller, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $$ on it. I'm perfectly happy with my 9813 set up. So I'm leaning towards going with an indash simple DVD player. Where I can control the DVD from the drivers seat and just pump the sound using my AUX controller on the 9813.

I'm having a hard time finding just a DVD player, anybody have a link or two. Also comments on the screen are welcome. I've got this thing that the brands must match, so I'm looking at the Clarion VD735, but don't like the way that you can only use the remote to control the DVD. http://clarion.com/usa/product/index...&product=VS735

But I do like the fact that I can buy the DVD player and screen for less than the cost of the Alpine 7996

:cheers:

What about this (I have it) -> DHA-S680

or this -> DVA-5205

You can find them both discounted.

Nice Monitor -> TME-M760

Agreed that TME-M760 is a sweet screen and I know it drops right into the C5, but I don't like the buttons on the right nor the price.

I like the DVA-5205 and DVA-S680. I assume that since they are both Ai-Net compatable, I would be able to control them from the 9813 HU just like I do with my XM? I'll have to see if I have enough room for the DVA-5205. I think that would make for a nice looking install in the dash.

Send me an IM if you know of a place to get the DVA-... DVD players for less than $900. :eek:

Yes you can control these devices from an AiNet H/U. Two channel down-mixed audio goes through the Ai-Net cable and you run the video with a single RCA cable. There is also a digital audio out for use with an external Dolby processor. Both units can actually be used with non AiNet products. When using with a non AiNet H/U you would have to run a remote control sensor (included) and you would have to run stereo RCA cables for audio.

Go to alpine-usa.com and download the user manuals from the product pages. I sent you an IM with info.

I decided to go with the Alpine TME-M760 6.5" screen. It seems it was almost custom made to fit into a C5. I got a sweet price on ebay. Pics to come.

Sounds like you are going to have a great setup.

Start saving for the DVA-5205 or the DHA-S680 along with the PXA processor!
