Well, I was up late last night, but I got the job finished moving my AC controls overhead. Don't underestimate the power of velcro. I used a few strips of it to mount the controls that way. I really have to pull on it to get it loose, so there is no danger of it coming down. The hardest part was cutting the headliner. I had to make a 1" trim ring out of carpet to cover my cutting "mistakes", but overall I'm pleased with the outcome.
This is a shot showing the 7' cat 5 e connections between the "brains" and display unit.
This is the "perfect spot" to locate the controls.
Running the wires from the ceiling down the A pillar to under the dash.
There are 4 strips of velcro. That little ledge on towards the windshield gives the unit the perfect viewing angle when sitting in the drivers seat.
All hooked up.
The next two pics show the template I used to stretch and cut the carpet for the trim ring
The last 3 pics show the finished project from a few different angles
Now that I've moved the controls out of the way, its time to get started on my custom screen for the center stack.
