Default BOSE REPLACEMENT (03 Silverado)...do I need to rewire it all?

Hi guys,
I just bought a nice 03 Silverado (even has Quadrasteer!). The Bose system is ok, but since I have a dozen alpine hu's sitting around, and about 200pr of infinity speakers (part of my new business dealing with CircCity returns), I think I'm going to replace it.

I'm probably going to end up with an alpine hu, 2 alpine amps, 1 pr infinity components, 1 other pr infinity and 1-2 subs. I'm still an audio nubi, so don't know where to start...but can't stand other people working on my new truck...so I'm going to do it myself.

The dash is a double din, so I'm open to suggestions about dash kits, etc that would make it look nice. Also, it's a 6 disk in dash Bose system, so if someone wants it, I think it'd be great for a c4. IM me and we can work out a fair price.

One more thing...it's got steering wheel controls built in. I don't suppose there are any head units that accept these, or a wiring kit that makes it happen, but if someone knows something I don't, please let me know.
Thanks,
Josh

I can understand that you don't want others working on your truck. But I would strongly suggest you take it to a stereo shop. Especially with the Bose, the system wiring will be a headache. Also a good stereo shop will make it not only sound great but be aesthetically pleasing. They will also have all the latest 03 info on integrating your factory controls.

Check out http://www.tune-town.com. They have several adapters which allow you to use your steering wheel radio controls with an aftermarket HU. They also stock custom HU installation kits. If you really have double din opening, you can do a pretty trick install with an indash changer, or parametric eq, or even a HU and a DVD changer for a custom screen someplace. Take your time, and be creative.

have fun! besides the Bose and steering wheel controls, you also have no ignition wire and a databus wire running through the deck! If you're going to put all new stuff in, just run new speaker wires, dont try to use any of the Bose wiring. You can use it but you will probably be better off not hacking any of it up so when you want to go back to stock it's not a complete nightmare.

myk
