Default SoundStream Amps, Opinion ????

I found a link on this site that sent me to a store called Millionbuy.com Never heard of them but they have Soundstream amps REAL cheap. One that caught my eye is the RUB600-4 for $235 shipped. The next best price I found on the web was around $320 + shipping.

Any opinions on this store??

More important, opinions on this amp?? They seem to have a couple different amp series, this one seems to be in the middle. Looking to drive some Alpine 5.25 fronts and Kenwood Excelon 6x9 rears and maybe bridge a sub across the fronts ?

Not looking to spend a ton of $$$. Don't want junk, not out to win any contests just nice clean sound at a fair price. Before I saw this amp I was looking at either the JL Audio 300-4 (bit more than I want to spend) or the Alpine F540.

Open to other options.
Thanks

Soundstreams old gear is great stuff. I dont know about the new stuff, minus the Tarantula series.

Millionbuy.com is a good place to shop. I bought three Soundstream Tarantulas from them. Shipping was excellent and I give customer service a 10/10. They have a great return policy incase youre unsatisfied.

The JL 300/4 is a very clean amp with a lot of features. I cant compare it to the Rubicon line since I havent heard their new stuff but I'm sure theyre close inn performance.

I've been on Soundstreams web site and can't seem to figure out what the main differences are between the different product lines??

Based on the Tarantula cost, I would rather go for the JL Audion 300-4. I guess one reason I asked about this line was finding the Rubicon II so cheap. I know they had a great reputation 15 years ago but not sure what they are like now as a company. Fosgate was great the first year or 2 but went to crap and now you can buy them in department stores ????

Maybe for $200 it might be worth a try. Since everyone else is selling them for $300+ I can allways sell it on ebay if I don't like it.

WOW  What in the world do you use to get enough juice to those power hungry amps. We need pics of that install...please.

Instead of Soundstream, look at the JBL amps, you get a lot of power for little $ Good luck

back in the day, Soundstream was da bom, yo. Everyone who wanted audiophile quality sound flocked to SS.

They were highend, reference class amps. So nice, so musical.

But about 7 years ago, when I went to buy one, it just didn't sound up to par with the other stuff.

I ended up getting a Butler Tube Driver. An amp I high recommend. It uses vacuum tubes as output filters. SWEET. So musical, so much headroom.

However, I was not in the $$ area of the Butler and the JL Audio 500/5 impressed me SO much, that I bought it, instead.

No regrets, but I would love to get a Butler again at some time.

Get the TDB2150 2 channel x 150 watts each, and buy a JL 250/1 to power the sub.

My current installation would not easily support 2 amps. The Butlers are rather large....

Tube Driver Blue's are high-end amps but are obviously not in the price range he's looking at :D

Finally got it up and running !!
So far sounds great and working fine.
Looks like I have all winter now to work on mounting it and cleaning up the wiring. (time to put it away).

One question though,
what the heck is this thing:

Looks like a VERY large coil but for what???
Maybe the AM antenna, I don't know.

I was hoping to mount the amp on the back wall but then I found this suprise, hmm....

I've got the 5 channel Rubicon in my Corvette and just bought a 5 channel Tarantula to put in my Toyota Tacoma. I've liked their stuff.

There are 6 different models of Tarantula amps from a 2,000 watt monoblock to an 800 watt 5 channel. ;)
