7995 is last years model and is being greatly discounted right now. It was $499 at most places and is now $299.

I've got a 9815 on the way. :D

Clarions sound great, but lack digital time correction.

I am the owner of both Clarion and Alpine.
The reason I switched to Alpine recently because they offer dead unit (no inter amp) which I really wanted that for a long time but don't wanna spend 500$ and now the CDA-7995 got discounted to 300$ free shipping so I must get it :D
Clarion DZX 835MP is a great unit. It plays MP3 and WMA.
Clarion does not have digital time correction but it has dual 24 bits DA which gives it a clean sound.
Just my 0.02$

Point of interest,

with my Clarion HX-d10 (supposedly the "audiophile" clarion) I had to EQ 1000hz and 400hz down quite a bit..

I put an alpine 7998 into the same system.. the alpine has better sound quality.

But.. differences in SQ between godo head units is mostly... negligable.

Wicked C5 has an Alpine CDA-7998 for sale. If I didn't buy my CDA-7897 recently, I'd buy his!! :)
