I am having a problem getting power to my new HU in my '95 coupe (base cassette system). I tested everything by temp. hooking the adapter harness to the radio harness and plugging everything up at the rear module in the compartment behind the pass. seat. Everything seemed fine so I pulled the fact. HU out, removed the rear module (what does CDM stand for anyway?), ran new wires between the rear compartment and the radio area (to go between the radio and adapter harnesses), and now I've got no power!? What did I do wrong? Does the fact. unit being removed interupt power going to the rear module? I'd prefer to tap at the pass. compartment and keep the "on 'til door opens" feature but if that doesn't work I'm not worried.
I also saw a lot of threads about getting the power antenna to work. Will I be fine with the lead from the radio going straight to the pass. comp. plug? I don't recall if it worked or not in my temp. setup.
Hmmm...I don't know how mine was done. I will try to remember to check out behind the passenger side in the compartment to see if the power was run from there or behind the dash. I know the antenna wire was run from the rear. The antenna only goes up when I select the radio on my Alpine. My deck does stay on until a door is opened, which is nice.
I figured it out. The constant power was not working. I just tapped the acc. plug constant and everything works. I left enough extra wire for the antenna so that I can put a switch but I will get to that later. I'm not sure the best spot for the switch.
Now I realize that the factory amp wasn't as crappy as I'd thought. I'm going to have to take it all apart again and put in an amp sometime. Oh well.
