Default Where can I learn about amps and such?

Hey all. I am in the final planning stages of my system and need a little guidance. I need information as to what advertisers need when it comes to RMS power at a given Ohm load, why some amps appear to be higher power than others even though they advertise the same power, and what kind of amp would be best to power my CDT HD62-ef's and a pair of E8A Elemental Designs subs. I was leaning towards US Acoustics 2150 for the CDT's and the 4085 (bridged) for the subs Is there a site I can go to to learn? Thanks for the help! Lastly, totally offtopic, but let's never forget 9/11.

Look for a rms rating from 20 to 20 hz, less than .1 THD, and at 12 volts.
I own a US 2150 and use for subs, never a problem in 7 years(?).
Why not use two of them? They'll put out 150 watts per channel in 4 ohm stereo or 450 watts mono into 4 ohm. Feel free to IM me anytime.
Also wanted to add: It seems a lot of forum members have the CDTs and love them, maybe they will post what they used to run them.

I too am trying to put together a system and have learned a lot here and over on sounddomain's forums.

I just ordered the CDT CL-61's for the front doors and I will probably be running a Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4 amp to power the CDTs and bridged to power a JL Audio 10W6 sub in one of Mike's stealthboxes.

The 2150 is not powerful enough to power the Elemental subs. From what I am told, the Elementals work best between 200-300 watts RMS for each sub. The 4085 offers 240 watts to two channels when bridged, so it would be right where I wanted it. Externally, it is the same size as the 2150, so it will still look symmetrical. I don't want to use three amps (one for each sub and one for the CDT's) due to the space constraints of our vettes. I will check out sounddomain for more info. Thanks a bunch!
