Default HU install = pita

What a pain. Who's idea was it at gm to make these radio's 1.5 dins. I had to buy a spacer AND a antenna adaptor. Not only that, I had to fish wires from 2 different areas. The "turn on" wire from the pass. floor board, and the illumination wire from the AC controls. I get to put the thing in and find that the metal tab is in the way. I have to bend it or sawzall it out. What a pain!

I guess it could be worse. The new nissan maximas the radio is completely seperated within the dash. Same with the ford taurus's starting a few gen's ago.

Tell me about it. I had to completely remove the back area behind the HU to install my Sony unit using the preouts.

I hear ya. The cleanest HU install I ever did was in a late model Isuzu Rodeo. It fit so well in the stock location that I was able to install it w/out using a mounting kit, and I didn't even need to use the trim ring that comes with the HU.

Quite the PITA, but worth it to get rid of the Blose!
:iagree:

I personally hate the depth, I had to whack that metal ring in the back with pipe and a hammer to get the depth I wanted!
