Default Need subwoofer enclosure ideas

Alright I have a 15" Adire Audio Tumult I put into my C5. So far I have used a Sonotube enclosure. I find that if I put the sub directly behind the seats in that area thats inbetween the back speakers it sounds like poop. There is alot of cancellation between the midbasses up front and the sub right at the X-over frequency (I run 24db/oct Linkwitz Riley alignment at about 90 Hz), especially if the top is down. Reverseing the phase of the woofer in relation to the front speakers doesnt do a thing, so I'm thinking that the woofer is about 90 degrees out of phase.

If I put the woofer in the extreme rear of the car it sounds much better. However I still want to stow the top. This will mess up the weight distribution (the woofer itself is 50 lbs) but my audio is important to me. Right now all my electronics are in the center stow hole. Does anybody have a pic of a single 15" enclosure in the back of a C5 that I can still stow the top?

Build your own enclosure. It's easy and you can still stow away your top.

If your ok with power tools, buy some 3/4" mdf. Get out your measuring tape.

Cut it so it is flush with the rear deck

When complete, bass will sound great!!

Do a search for c5 sub enclosure ideas.

I don't think a 15" can fit in that middle trunk compartment. I have a 12" w/ 7" mounting depth. With 3/4" MDF, I have to build it above it so it's not sitting flush.

Hmm very interesting indeed. I might just do the center chamber enclosure, just so the thing wont slide around. Ill have to move the electronics though :mad

Oh yeah, my woofer is rather deep: But it can take very small spaces. Hopefully it'll fit :
