Has anybody hardwired an iPod into a _factory_ C5 stereo?

if the iPod has L/R aufio outs, then you can use the PIE adapter that adds
L/R audio inputs to your factory system.

Scott, it a 3G 30 GB. I should have been more clear about what I want. I want some way to plug the iPod into the factory stereo through a direct connection - not a FM transmitter or a cassette adaptor. My wife doesn't want to visibly change the factory stereo and I want to be able to take the iPod with me if I'm going on foot.

Perhaps, this set of requirements is impossible to fufill...but thanks for asking.

All right, we are working with the same model. let me describe what I am doing. I am putting the mount in the center console at the very front. I am mounting it perpendicular to the seat. Seams to fit perfectly. The mount I am using is from Arkon: http://www.arkon.com/CM131.htm
I took the angle bracket off and just using the cradle. It fits the ipod perfectly.

I am then going to use the Belkin iPod auto adapter for the line out and power to my iPod. This unit is nice because it does it all in one cable. I think I will take it apart and hard wire it in.

Since my alpine head unit has ai-net, then I can use that as my line input.

Faily simple, but should look ver clean.
