Default Where can I fit my amp in 88

I removed my Bose head unit yesterday, I had planned to fit a 4 channel 500 watt amp with the new system but can’t find anywhere to put it.

I would prefer not to lose any room in the car, so I took the dash apart but there’s no where I can fit this amp – it’s 11.5” x 9.5” x 3”

My car is converted to RHDrive so I expect everything behind the dash is less tidy than original, plus the heater is on the LH side (and probably upside down) which fills 90% of the LH space behind the dash. The RH side is jammed full of wiring harness pedals brakes etc.(there’s hardly room for my feet !)

Is there room behind the rear wall of the cargo area, maybe on one side ?

Does anyone have any suggestions, if not my alternative appears to be to return the amp and get a smaller one which I think will fit behind the passenger crash pad area and use it just to power the rear 6x9’s.

Thanks

S’nut

Have you considered one of the storage compartments in the back? Just make sure the amp is well ventilated.

I did try to fit the amp in the LH storage compartment, I think it will squeeze in. I’m not sure how to ventilate it, without letting in road dirt and water. Plus I’d have to run several cables to and from it . So I’m reluctant to do it.

There’s zero room under the seats, they are powered sports seats.

Thanks for your replies. I’m probably asking an unanswerable question but I was just hoping there was a special place I didn’t know about – like the post recently from someone who had just discovered those storage areas after having the car for a while !

My 4x50watt Sony CD player wasn’t too bad in my Fairlane so it should seem louder in the smaller area of the vette. I just wanted that little bit more volume, the bass was sucking up the power. I discovered here that 50watts is only about 20watts RMS. If the 4x50 had been a RMS measurement I’d have power to burn.

Looks like I can fit the amp on the floor just ahead of the passenger seat.

Can I put the floor carpet over it ?

How much ventilation does it need ? 4x500watts (not RMS)

Better to build a box and carpet the box matched to your interior. You could also do this in the rear of the car. Keeps the amp hidden, protects it when you put stuff back there (or if in the front, from your pasenger's feet) and the clearance of the box allows for some ventilation.
