Default MP3/CD and 6-disc changer IN late C4 dash

I finally broke down and got myself a real deck to fit into my double-din dash space; infact, I got two! The upper unit is a Pioneer DEH-P7400MP, it plays radio, XM radio (not hooked up), CD's, and MP3's burned onto CDR! The lower unit is a CDX-PD6 in dash 6-disc CD changer. It doesn't use a magazine, you just load 6 CD's through the one door.

The decks are bolted to custom metal brackets which attach to the stock deck's mounting holes. The faceplates of these decks are small enough to fit through the stock dash cutout without any trimming. The 7400 had a trim piece which surrounded the faceplate; fortunately it is removable (otherwise it wouldn't have fit).

The 7400 has Pioneer's OEL display which plays animations as a kind of "screen saver". My favorite is the analog level meter!

Night shot!

That is by far the best C4 Installation I have seen yet. What year is that installed in? I've got a 96, and I would love to do that. Also, where did you find that changer?

I have an Alpine 9813 I'm about to install, but need the dash kit. There is a 6 disk changer that will be mounted in the back somewhere, along with two amps and a sub

Great Looking install!! I'm looking to do my '90 in the next few weeks. How much did the CDX-PD6 set you back and where did you purchase? Did you do the complete install yourself?

Thanks for the kind words guys! I bought the changer off of eBay (used). I'm not sure if Pioneer still makes it. IIRC Blaupunkt also makes an in-dash changer.

Blue J- My car is a 1990, should be the same dash size as your '96. The 2 DIN size is actually a little narrower than standard single DIN. Most decks have a trim ring around the faceplate, if it doesn't come off it might not fit in the dash!

1990PoloVette- I did all the work myself. There is another post in here about Metra's install kit for the late C4's. I've never tried it, I ended up making my own mounts out of sheet metal.

Jason,
What size speakers did you put in your '90. Did you use the factory boxes or did you make new ones?

Thanks

Your install looks great. I just got the 5500 installed in my car. I am having one problem. The "sys" light keeps coming on. I ahve taken it back to tEh stereo shop twice and printed down the resistor fix off the board. Obviously they cannot read or do not what they are doing. I was wanting to know if you have this problem and how do you fix? I found tEh fixes on tEh board but they reference 94 or 96 model. I have a 92 which should be pretty much tEh same as yours. Thanks for any help.

Still working on the speakers. Currently I have mids and tweeters in the Bose boxes running off an amp. No pics right now.

Rears have been replaced with 8" subs. Don't know if there is enough room for 10's.

I've heard that electronic climate control cars don't have the sys-light problem. I've got ECC and no sys-light. Sorry I can't be of more help.
