Good to know Legacy are junk I will go with a brand I have heard of, I want to get an updated CD player that will play mp3's that I burn myself.....

Does my stock bose have 6 speakers or just 4, it appears there "could" be 6 two in dash two in doors 2 in back....

Do most people who update run 4 or 6 speakers?
NO...I don't want the ground thumping bass just good tunes....

Thanks, Charlie. :flag

on a budget, with head unit power, most people run 4. but for high quality and correct sound, you would run a single pair of nice speakers and a sub.

Basically what I want is a head unit that will play the CD's I burn in mp3 format then I don't care or really know if I need 2, 4, or 6 speakers but I want to be able to crank up the volume just loud enought that it's unbearable inside that car....I wouldn't run around like that all the time but want it when I need it....
What would I need for such a system, will the head unit alone power it or do I need amps and does anyone happen to know what size speakers will fit in my 86 as I DON'T wanna cut anything up.....Thanks

That's a loaded question.....everything cool costs $$$ but at the risk of sounding cheap I wanna do it as cheap as possible and still have something nice, no problemo on me installing it, just getting all the parts at a good deal...
What do you think I would need to spend?
Thanks,

gett that hwead unit...

normally id suggest CDT speakers,,, but they jacked their prices up, and shut off distribution to places with good prices. i payed $250 for the hd52 set... now they are $399.

go to local shops and listen to sspeakerrs... then buy them for way less using sites like cbrstereo.com sounddomain.com thezeb.com and of course TL electronics

for <$250 (plus head unit, wires etc)you can do 5.25 coax up front, 6x9 rear.

or, you can do just a pair of nice "component" speakers... $200-$1100+ a pair, plus a 100x2 amp ($200+)

remember to shop onluine. i got a pair of $1100 speakers for $430 that way.

Kale, thank you for the referral. It is greatly appreciated. :D

The13Bats, I'll be very glad to put together a package price for you. The hardest part will be choosing the brand of speakers/headunits. And then the price range that you want to stay within. Email me at sales@tlelectronics.com and I will be very glad to work with you.
