Anyone done a system for a C5 'vert? Did you like your results? What would you do differently?
In my current car, I went absolutely ape-poopie and when the dust settled, it was a great system, but WAY overkill. I would have rather spent half as much and saved a couple thou. Plus, that one's a coupe, so it'll be a totally different situation.
What special considerations do I need to take into account for a 'vert? Where do I place the sub in order to hear it? Is there an alternative to a separate sub? Am I wasting money getting extreme gear on a 'vert because I won't hear it through the trunk anyway? etc...
I'm looking ~$1000. I went ~$4000 last time. I figure there isn't much audible difference between 1000 and 4000 at speed with the top up, even more so with the top down.
1. Less interior reflections: In a coupe you can get away with bouncing stuff off the roof, and getting reflections to help staging. In a convertible the only thing you really have is the glass. So make sure you spend time aiming your tweets wit the top down.
2. Bass response: With a convertible you will loose 1/4 of the sound that a fixed roof would produce, and loose 1/2 with the top down. So size the bass portions knowing that. It's easier to over due the bass, and turn it down.
