Default non bose system in a c4

Can some one clear up some confusion I am having? Does a non bose system still have external amps? If not would you still need to run new speaker wire when replacing the speakers?

A non-Bose system doesn't have to have external amps. If you want to run the speakers off of the head unit, you can, just run new wires to the new speakers (won't work with Bose speakers).

In my 96 I have a stock non-Bose Delco cassette player/AM/FM. The head unit does not have an amp. The amp is buried in the storage bin where the jack is behind the passenger seat. So, yes, it does have an external amp different from the Bose system.
