It's about time. I was installing car audio for 10 years, and I always hated the cheap plastic Kits for GM's.
Good Find

I know... its much harder than paper... does not wanna bend at all.

and is heavier than plastic.

I will check back and let you know how this "metal" stuff works out. could be a new invention that we should all look into.

Ok...time to prod you for more info on the 7998 fit.

Did you mount it at the top, middle or bottom of the opening?

When it extends, how far out does it come?

I remember you mentioned to me that you had a different shifter, so you don't have to worry about it hitting that...

thanks!

I will take pics tonite!!! I have room, but, with a stock shifter, you may run into issues during turn on/off... just don't be in 1-3-5 when that happens.

Pics are in!!!!

The first pic is the head open at its farthest extent. as you can see, the shifter is in 1st and there is still about 3/4". I suspect you have a problem with the stock shifter... but that is why 2-4-6 and neutral :)

The second pic I took with a bit of creative flash blocking... :D

It fits the dash very nicely, I think... and the kit is very nice, too.

The stereo was not straight. not sure why.. I have since made my own install kit from an OEM Delco radio I got for $40

I don't have a Picture yet, but it looks much better to me.
