Default C5 Delphi XM Install Help

I understand that it is possible to connect a Delphi XM unit to the CD changer connector in the passenger fender in a C5 configuration with no changer and in-dash CD.

Where is the connector? Any special harness(es)?

How is volume controlled? How is the input selected?

Where and how did you mount your Delphi XM unit?

Antenna location?

It is all installed in my C5 convertible (and the same tuner and one subscription is used in 2 cars and 3 home/office locations. The antenna is very small (1/2 size of computer mouse and simpley is sitting on the dash next to the passenger side windshield post - works fine. The little tuner sits on top of the closed cup holder. FYI (I also posted it earlier): see below & let me know if you have other questions.

I have installed the Delphi XM SKIFi in my C5 Convertible, Volvo Wagon, 2 in home and in my office – all with one tuner ($10 a month once). It is fantastic. In the C5, you need 2 harnesses to make it work into the BLOWS OEM Head unit. As you know, you do not want to do the FM modulator. The source for the 2 harnesses is LOGJAM ELECTRONICS.
I. LOGJAM:

Web site (the exact page your need) and contact information.: http://store5.yimg.com/I/logjam_1714_750616
LOGJAM ELECTRONICS / P. O. Box 211 / Anderson, IN 46015 / (765)644-1251

II. The items you need:

(1) PIE GM10-AUX Auxiliary GM10AUX 1 69.95
Input Converter
Subtotal 69.95
Shipping 6.50
Tax 0.00
Total 76.45

(2) PIE COR-HAR Cable Harness
Amount : 76.45

(3) You may or may not need a Ground Fault Issolator - Radio Shack $14.00

III. INSTRUCTIONS:

I pulled up the passengers footwell carpet and panel along with the right kickpanel. You will probably have to remove the small little hinge panel first which is above the kick panel. Both of the plugs that you will need for the harness are lying in the lower right corner of the passenger footwell. The 3 wire plug has a little piece of white tape on it, the other plug is pretty close to it but its secured to the frame with one of those plasticbarbed push plugs.

Why is the PIE COR-HAR necessary when the GM10-AUX harness already provides the requisite RCA connectors?

The PIE COR-HAR appears to be for trunk mounting a CD changer. What am I missing?

What button do you push on the in-dash CD unit to switch to Aux?

C5 Tweaker:

You are missing exactly what I missed when I first only order4ed the one cable. The documentation and WEB information from PIE and LOGJAM is not all that clear - they say they ae now aware of that. Form the factory, ALL (I believe) C5s have a harness that goes from the back of the OEM radio down to the passenger footwall area. If you have a factory CD CHANGER, there is another harness that then runs, from the passenger side harness, to the rear where the CD Changer lives. IF you have that 2nd cable to the rear, you only need the one item from PIE. My C5 did not have the cable to the rear so I needed to order both PIE cables. Even if I had the Harness to the rear, my connections for the XM Delphi SKYFi are in the fron so it is sort of moot. Believe me, unless you have the harness from the radio to the passenger side footwell are AND THE harness to the rear trunk are, you need 2 PIE harnesses. Can I addd any more?

BTW, today, I drovce my C5 500 miles from DC to northern Ohio and had a blast listening to all of the XM channels. My 20 favorites are now set on the SKIYFi.

Patrick - now in Ohio
