Default Valentine One Gen 2

Did anyone get their hands on a Valentine One Gen 2 Radar Detector before they shut down for COVID? If so, how does it perform and is it worth the cost of an upgrade?

I got one right before the shutdown happened. Its been flawless for me so far even though there have been some quality control issues with the first batch released. I still have my updated Gen 1 that I have had for 15 years as well, using it in other vehicle. The Gen 2 is a lot more quiet and much better detection range. Well worth the $500 in my opinion. There is also the Radenso Theia model coming out soon but that will be close to $1k. This will make everything else obsolete if it lives up to its claims

I got mine a day ago and love it so far... Time will tell if they have a few issues worked out...

Well I guess I posted too soon. It died today, won’t power on. Lady on their end said it’s a firmware issue and they will take care of it right away. I’ve had mine for right around 90 days now.
They are developing an app for updating the unit but it’s not quite ready to be released.

Yea its no big deal. Minor inconvenience. Still have my updated Gen 1. New device, **** happens. Sounds like anyone with the original firmware will deal with this sooner or later.

My Gen 2 lasted less than a week, even out of the box kinda knew I was going to have issues, it looked like a return unit re-packed. Any attempt for a return/refund has to wait for now. I would wait a few months after they reopen to get the kinks out of their quality control.

Did yours have the 'no power' issue?
I dropped mine off at FedEx Tuesday about 10am, it was returned to me about 10am today. 72 hours later, its fixed and back in my hands. Say what you will about the minor issues of the initial batch of Gen2 detectors, but Valentine's customer service is absolutely second to none. I think it's even more impressive nowadays with all the chaos going on in day to day life anymore.

I got one of the early V1G2’s and have not had any issues....yet and I hope never. But it is great to see their customer service addresses the issues fast.

Apparently it’s a firmware issue, so it’s a case of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ on the original firmware.
I would assume theOr new app would be out very soon to address this so the unit doesn’t need to be returned to update it.

I've had mine for about a month and have traveled about 5000k miles on road trips and it has worked like a charm. The detection range seems like it has really expanded a lot and I get alerts sometimes way far away in advance but I don't mind as it protect me.

I liked the Gen1 a lot but Gen2 is a huge upgrade in my opinion gave gone from very good to great. It's has far less noisy false alarm alerts as well.

It seems more sleek and very well made and glad I sold my Gen1 and got the Gen2 and worth the investment especially after selling the Gen1, the net cost is great.

Most importantly, it has been trouble free this first month of ownership and I had it within 5 days of ordering.
