Default Logjam line converter for AUX input

Hi everyone... I've read posts on the forums forever and the time has come for me to make my own. I am wondering if anyone has used the logjam converter mentioned in other threads to hook up an mp3 player or something to that affect using the aux on the deck. Thanks in advance for all the help.

At first glance, seems like it might work. Ask a lot of questions before ordering.

I'm very close to buying one as well. Any feedback will help if either of you purchase it.

Good News.... I had my Neo Car Jukebox installed this week and thanks to the LOGJAM thing I have access to thousands of songs played through the aux button on my factory head unit. The thing works just as advertised. ITS GREAT!

Please post the details.
This sounds like a very significant issue for all Corvette owners who would like to play mp3's on our Delco\Bose head units.

The line converter works fine. Head unit shows disc one track one and over the speakers is the music from my mp3 player. I have install pics of the remote display in my dash, but dont know how to post them (any help out there?). The converter from logjam, though kinda expensive... works perfect and couldnt be easier to install.

Did you need to remove the head unit to connect the Logjam Converter?

Never had to remove the head unit... the converter plugs into the harness at the cd changer in the back.

Did you have to disconnect the negative battery terminal to get the head unit to recognize the new AUX input?

I tried installing it without disconnecting the negative battery terminal and no luck so far. :banghead:

Got this to work for me too. The sound quality is superb, no hiss like the FM modulator I was using before. The sound level is a lot lower than the radio or CD but a line level booster should take care of that.

I didn't get it to recognize the input initially either. I left the ingnition on and turned off the head unit. I unplugged the Logjam box from the CD changer cable, plugged it back in and then turned the head unit back on. That did the trick!

:D  :) :flag

I got it to work to. I just had to disconnect the negative battery terminal (like the instructions said) and reconnect and then it all worked!

I noticed the same thing with sound level being much lower than the internal CD player & radio. Would this have something to do with the long CD changer cable length?

Which MP3 player are you using? I hooked up an iPod with a minijack cable coming out of the ashtray. This has the advantage that you can close the lid to hide the cable. The ashtray receptacle also holds the iPod from sliding around too much.

It could be the cable length, a boosteroo should raise the level nicely though.

I'm using an Archos Jukebox Recorder. I have the power and minijack cable routed via the ashtray too. The Archos sits upright in the cup holder with some foam to help keep it in place and act as extra shock protection.

I'm really happy with the setup. :D

I wonder if there is really anything in those logjam boxes?

Or do they just short out some pins?

Ok guys... need some help. Like I said before... the logjam converter is in and seems to work fine. Recently when playing my mp3 player, randomly the sound will cut off from the left two speakers. Eventually it will go back to normal. It is really annoying and my installer told me he thinks it has something to do with the logjam cable. Anyone have any clue why my sound would randomly cut out on one side of the car? All the connections seem secure. Thanks.

Sounds like a bad connection, have you checked the connections at BOTH ends of the CD changer cable?. It could potentially be a dry solder connection in the logjam box itself.

Instead of a boosteroo I'm going to use a more appropriate piece of kit. I'm getting a PIE LD-1 Adjustable Line Driver w/Sonic Filter ($50) from Logjam:

http://www.logjamelectronics.com/pield1.html

This should allow me to dial in the line boost from the MP3 input so it will match the volume of the head unit CD player. The input has RCA in/out sockets so it will simply replace the RCA gender changers I have between the Y cable and the Logjam aux input box.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I took mine apart; it has an internal curcuit board with quite a few surface-mount integrated circuits. The LogJam simulates the serial data that is sent from the factory CD changer to the factory head unit. I find it amazing that they can sell the PIE for a mere $70. The inmates in those Chinese prisons must work for next-to-nothing.
