Default Sub question...bidding on item now...could use opinions asap

I was thinking of going with 2 8" subs...1 in each corner of my coupe. If I can get a good price on 2 new JL Audio 8w0-8 subs, say $120 for the pair, will I get the tight, clean bass I'm looking for?
Still don't have an amp or HU, slowly stocking up parts.
Thanks for your help all...

I would put both in the middle or in the center compartment...mirror image sub placements usually cancel each other out and sound like crap.

The W0s don't handle a whole lot of power(75 watts), but they are very clean subs with a good amp and enclosure. You might just want to get one 12" sub though, it will play deeper and louder. The drawback with the 12" would be a bigger box requirement.

If you get the dual 8" install all the other electronics, then connect the subs and move them around in the back till you like how they sound.

Smaller subs won't go deep and give you those spine deep notes. Bigger subs loose the tightness and clarity. 10-12" is the good compromise sizes. With 8s they will be tight but not that deep. The stealthbox would sound much better or you could build your own if you don't want to spend the coin. But you will loose the space. If you don't want to loose the space, I'd go with the best 8" I could find.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the response.

I'll pass on these subs, unless I get a ridiculous price. Guess I should just save up for the good stuff :yesnod:
The hood is the RK Sport Ram Air. I wasn't crazy about the fit or finish, neither was my body guy, but it looked good in the end.

You guys have yourselves a great week...I'm off to Vegas

The JL8W0 can be had new from one of the sites for $72 a piece so don't feel bad on passing on them. You can always pick them up later and know that they are new.

Btsoom, I have a round 12" Kicker Solobaric just collecting dust. I would be willing to fab a box for you and sell you the box/sub for $225 plus shipping. All you would need to do is feed it with a minimum of 400W rms. What do you think?

Now that sounds like a good deal. Let Rob Ferretti Know if Btsoom doesn't want it. He's been rumbling about getting a sub for a while but hasn't pulled the trigger. This might give him a reason to go for it. :yesnod:

phoenix gold xs-8" subs are $35 each on ebay right now, they are a little better than the 8w-o. another really cool sub is made by rockford right now, the 8" he2, it's specs are almost a carbon copy of the JL 8w6 which was everyones favorite 8" those guys quit making for some odd reason.
