without removing the bose... 4"
with cutting the bose enclosure 5.25"

with removing bose and cutting the door a little, 6.5

honestly, I wouldn't go smaller than 6.5. The mids will be lost with road noise.

btw, the component set im using will breach 120db on the right song, so a single set of good front speakers is "enough" above 60hz.

Look at the second pic. I'm going to build better mounts so i can lower them 4" for teh sake of imaging. They are a little "high"

yeah i've heard from many people, that the closer you mount the tweeter the better sound you will have. So what i'd probably end up doing is mounting it on the speaker grill, i've seen it done before and it does sound better.....if not ON the speaker grill as close as I can

Then your legs block a good deal of the sound, unfortunately.

even if i was to point the tweeter in a direction where my legs wouldn't be in the way....well i guess the best way to find out is trial and error, hehe.

Yep. That's the only way. You can put them in your doors, just above your knees, if you dont mind cuttting the $400 door panels.

You can try CDT Braxials too, they are a component set with the tweeter on a bracket over the mid. What set were you looking at?

Tweeter should have a clear shot towards the opposite side head rest

I have CDT Audio Cambria 600's in the rear of my C5 and they sound great. I had to change the direction of mounting as I was getting my head blown off by the highs coming from the rear. I have the CDT Audio component set 52's in the doors of my car and have them imaged as stated by others towards the opposite side head area. I haven't really had a problem with the sound that is being imaged from either my door or the passenger door. It sounds pretty spatial to me. I am going to change the JL sub amp and sub to something with a bit more power but that is another topic.

I recommend the CDT Audio speakers.
