Looking for suggestions on mounting aftermarket head unit please.
I recently purchased a new aftermarket HU for my 2002 C5 convertible. I ordered the stereo online and it came with a mounting kit. Unfortunately, the mounting kit does not fit quite right and when I re-assemble the console it does not quite fit perfectly (small gap on passenger side of console next to radio). From the research I have done so far, all these mounting kits seem to be the same. Is there a mounting kit that anyone has used with good luck? How about the custom mount such as a piece of Lexan? If that is the way to go can someone post some directions on how to get started making my own? Thanks in advance and save the wave!! :seeya
Also, is it correct that you can NOT use the speaker leads from the wiring harness directly with the new HU in the premium Bose stock system?

The one that I used is made by Metra. I am not sure which ones that you have tried out but there are a few that look pretty nice. Mine doesn't have any gaps and I really like the spot below the HU that takes up the 1/2 din spot to place a cd case in.

That does look sharp. The problem I seem to be having with mine is that it appears to be a copy of a copy of a copy. The mounting holes are a little off and that throws the hole center console just a little bit out of wack. :(
