Default 2001 CD/Changer resume error?

I have the stock CD player with 12-disc changer and seem to be experiencing strange behavior. When I turn the car off while in the middle of a song and then restart the car later it doesn't seem to remember the exact place the CD stopped. It seems to stay on the same disc but sometimes goes to a different track. Anyone else seen this?
