I want to buy an inexpensive amp to run my front speakers not more than 50W per channel RMS. I am looking to buy either a Profile or US Acoustics amp that are both around $80.00. Which is better for the money. Thanks for any replies.
Thanks again. I made my purchase from Zeb.com. I decided to go with an 80W US Acoustics amp. Zeb had it for $85 and Crutchfield had it for $100. I figured a 15% savings was worth it to go for the better price.

Yea on the other hand $15 more would give you a 3 year warranty
A few audio experts consider Us Acoustics to be a very high class of amplifier. IT's no ARC amp, but it's WAY better than MTX, for example

So how are these US Acoustic amps?
I've never used anything other than Alpine and RF for amp's. I was always under the impression the low-priced amps were low-grade.
The point being made here is that the US Acoustics are good “inexpensive” amps for someone on a tight budget, like Kale mentioned, they are better than most other “inexpensive” amps. Getting into the higher quality amps however, this no longer applies. If money is an issue and you can’t afford RF, MMATS, ARC, JL, etc. then US Acoustics is a good option.
Kale, you know I thought about spending the extra $15 but percentage wise it infuriated me to spend 15% more for something. Besides, I was going for a 50W amp which was $80 at Crutchfield and when I saw an 80W amp for $5 more at TheZeb, I jumped at it. I couldn't justify going to $100 for an amp. I use it in my '68 which gets driven once or twice a week for a few hours if I'm lucky. In three years I won't put but 9 months of wear and tear on it.
Having said all of that, I love Crutchfield's, they were just too high percentage wise this time.
thanks. I was seriously considering these for my truck system.
Have you heard of Richard Clark's $10,000 callenge? He's one of the 'godfathers' in car audio - known for his Buick GN in the 80's.
The challenge is that ALL amplifiers provide the same sound quality at a given level if not driven into distortion or clipping (all other things beng equal). So an Alpine, JL, RF, Arc, or US Acoustics amp will all sound the same to the ear. No one has beaten the challenge.

Yeah but that old challenge has been debunked long ago, it's just a gimmick. It's not a real world comparison. He poses so many restrictions that the contest isn't balanced; it's rigged so no one will ever get the 10 grand. A simple "trick" exploiting electronics and acoustic principles if you will. There are several websites on the debate. The consensus in the electronics and audio communities is that the challenge is worthless in terms of "real world" meaning or application.
In real world applications things are not equal, SQ is achieved by many different factors and yes, amps are one of them, Richard Clark even admits that. His challenge makes for fun, spirited debate but don’t let it influence your choices when shopping for an amp. In a nutshell, your system can tell the difference between amps, “set at low levels or not”, even if your ear can’t.
That doesn’t mean everyone should go out and buy the highest quality amp they can find, simply shop for the best amp they can find in their price range. Discussions and practices such as the “high-end vs. low-end amp debates” are merely fodder for audiophiles. :)
I suppose it could be tricky. I feel I have heard differences between amp's - the overall tonal quality of my Alpine's have always been better than the RF's I've run. But the Alpine's have never faired well for sub-bass (at least mine).
Maybe the dampening of the amp circuit was better in the RF - dunno. Maybe it was just a difference in "actual" power delivered to the speaker. RF's used to be under-rated like PG, PPI, and Orion.
Speakers have always been the biggest difference to my ears. Most people don't get to mix-and-match enough equipment over time to even know there can be a difference with different components.
I may try these US Acoustics just for the heck of it. They're loaded with features and the 3yr warranty thru Crutchfield is a bonus.
Hi Gang, new here, just took delivery of my '02 coupe 48 hours ago.
I have both a class A/B amp and Class D amp from US Acoustics in my Chevy Avalanche. They pack a lot of punch for the price and would highly recommend them. I believe the reason they are so cheap is that they are still unknown. Give them a little more time and we will see a jump in prices. They have the electronics in them to compete with some of the better equip. out there.
BTW, I am the Audio/Video moderator for the Chevy Avalanche Fan Club website... :D
