Any recomendations for a CD changer that will work with the Bose system. My Bose factory Cassette reciever and speakers still sounds great, gets good reception etc. I can't see replacing this unit if it still works great, just need a CD changer to go with it if possible. Any suggestions?
Re: CD Changer Recomendation for a '94 coupe. (biggrizzly)
The only one that will work is an RF (FM style not Rockford Fosgate. Sony for example makes these as do other makers) model that pipes the music in through the antenna. This will sound as good as your FM. Not so hot. But it is easy to install. The antenna wire is located in the cargo area under the carpet in the far rear driver's side. This is where the antenna wire comes through into the cockpit. They have a plug there to an extension that goes to the receiver. Plug into the antenna here. Three power wires and you're good to go.
Personally, I would just change the entires system. Cost about $500 more and would sound much better.

Hello, i am planning the same mod to my 94 vette. I plan on adding a fm mod cd changer. Did you ever get one installed? If so which one and how does it sound? Also any tips on how to instal.

George,
Naw, I'm still looking around. I am going by Eckler's next week in Florida and take a look at one of the units they sell.
I know this sounds crazy, but Wal-Mart has a CD changer that I am trying to research the manufacturer. It is simply called XtremeAudio 10 disc RF changer. $99. I know you sometimes get what you pay for. But if it sucked I could always drop it on Ebay.

Don,
My brother got one for 99.00 it's a jenson? i listened to it today. doesn't sound too bad. I think circuit city has one on sale this week for 99.00. There are quit a few different models on ebay this week. I like the JVC for 150.00 + 18 s&h. Thats the one my son picked out. Seems to have alot of options and looks good to. thanks for the reply
Re: CD Changer Recomendation for a '94 coupe. (wz2wj1)
How about a pioneer cdx-fm1279 12 disc changer or a cdx-fm673 6-disc changer. Both are under $200, won't break in 2 days like a JVC or no name, install with the FM, sound better, and can be used with a pioneer in-dash CD player at a later time if you decide to upgrade and go for good sound quality. Resale is also much higher if you sell the car and don't want to take it. http://www.mmxpress.com has them for $150 and $185. Definitely worth the extra bucks. :yesnod:

4 years of installing both brands among others full time.

If you mean can you wire up the unit without taking apart the dash? Yes. All these units need 4 wires hooked up. Constant power, ground, ignition, and antenna. The first three are available on an auxillary harness provided, at least it was in my year, under the shift plate in front of the center console. Splice off this and you have all your power hookups. The antenna wire is located in the rear of the car. It comes through the body in the back of the cargo area driver's side under the carpet. It has a plug were it comes through. Plug the provided wires into this plug and you're ready.

I recommend Pioneer because we had very little failures in the units and for the money they sounded great. They weren't the best but were very good bang for the buck and pretty bulletproof. Some JVC units we had a 70% failure rate within a few months and I we never had a single model that didn't have at least one or two units go bad. You could go up from here but for a good basic reliable system, the pioneer gets my knod. :yesnod:

I looked for the wires under the console when i wanted to instal my radar detector, they are not there. Can the unit be spliced into the harness for the radio reciever in the back?? under the storage compartment. I ended up getting an alpine system. 6 disc.
Re: CD Changer Recomendation for a '94 coupe. (biggrizzly)
I got it on ebay for 178.00. if i can find power in the storage compartment it should go ok. system probably wont be in for about a week ,just got the check out today.
Re: CD Changer Recomendation for a '94 coupe. (biggrizzly)
Hello, I just got the alpine 6 disk changer the other day and installed it in my 94 vert. works great and sounds great too.It took about 2 hours for the install because i had to run and get a couple of ant. wires to match the system to the bose system. all the connections you need are in the well behind the pass seat. Orange wires are bat black is ground and purple is the switched lead. Ant connection is there also. No need to run any lead except the remote control for the cd changer. I bought the unit on ebay for under 200 including shipping. If you go to auto zone you can get the ant connections for 3.99 each if you go to circuit city they are 12.99 each. I believe there are several cd units on ebay for sale. good luck with your choice & install
Re: CD Changer Recomendation for a '94 coupe. (wz2wj1)
While in Florida this past week on vacation, I stopped at a Circuit City and looked at a couple of RF CD units. They have a SONY CDX555RF 10 Disc changer with wireless remote for $229. Has anyone checked out this unit before?
Re: CD Changer Recomendation for a '94 coupe. (wz2wj1)
I just recieved my Kenwood 10 Disc Changer. It uses an FM Modulator as the rest of the FM units, but the modulator is approximately 4"WX7L"X1"high. The unit plays CD/CDRW/ and Mp3
My question is this: Where should I mount the modulator? and Where do most people mount the controller. The instructions say to double-stick to the dash or use the supplied adapter (requires cutting)
The controller is small about 2" high and 6" long - .50" deep - It doesn't seem to fit flush to any surface near or around the dash, console area.
Re: CD Changer Recomendation for a '94 coupe. (biggrizzly)
I installed the modulator in the well behind the pass seat. All the power and antenna connections were there. as for the controller i have it under the radio loose on the center console. Seems to be fine for now. If you have a wireless remote i mounted mine between the power seat controls and if you position the controller in the right spot you can just use the wireless.
