The most difficult part, after the door speaker upgrade was locating the amp power cable.
Thanks to fellow forum users I used the space just above the main wiring harness connector to drill and feed the line through the firewall.

It looks very professional. I also ordered some black flexible caulking from Eastwood to seal around the grommet used on the cable.

The fuse will be easy to access here if needed in the future. What I do not show here is the black plastic loom I covered the cable with. Remember to purchase a side post terminal extension for the positive side of the battery to connect the amp power cable.

The 4-channel amp is 400 watts and small enough not to overwhelm the limited space in my convertible.

It fits nicely between the rear 6X9's ( which are under the stock grilles). A 5-channel amp or a crossover unit will be needed for me to add a space saver sub later.

Here are the stock door speaker grills reattached with the spacers and longer screws.

The spacers are the sides cut from 2 old Bose grills I got cheap on eBay. I just cut the sides off and placed them behind the top of my originals to create the space I needed to clear the tweeters on the door speakers.

I very pleased with the way they look. The screws will be removed, scuffed and painted flat black.

Here is the Clarion head unit in place. Bluetooth and IPhone 5 compatible.

I bought this unit from Crutchfield. This is the third setup I have purchased from them and thney always have great value and excellent customer service.
Along with the unit I got a Scoshe wiring harness and a Metra dash installation kit.
This one rocks and I finally have great sound in my badass Vette!

The last step is to pack away the original stereo.
If, and this is a big IF, I ever sell the car The original system can be put back in as all the wiring was left intact and nothing was cut up or out.

You certainly do nice work, I installed my Amp under the passengers seat, since the seat wasn't electric, and used some shims to raise the seat so it will clear the amp, and not be seen.
Now start cruising roads with some loud tunes.
