How thick a piece of lexan do you need to make a custom HU face?
How thick of a piece of lexan or acrylic do you need to make a custom HU face to hold the new HU in a C5 (single din). I'm trying to find out the thickness I'll need to make this plate. Thanks.

I've done it with 1/8" and 1/4". The 1/8 " requires extra rear bracing to prevent flexing. The 1/4" worked well with slight tongue/groove joints and strong epoxy cement.

Sorry one set(1/4" Black with mirror polish) went in a '98 Tacoma, another 1/8" went in my old demo truck (hence the bracing comment). Haven't made one for the vette yet, but if I do it'll be black plexi with a mirror polish again, they look so good that way. :yesnod:

You want to make it as big as possible to fit in the slot (for strength) but it must freely be able to slide in and out. Using the 1/4", I made small tongue-groove slots in the sides of the face piece at the ends, then made appropriate corresponding slots on the side pieces. Fit together, then use a strong adhesive/glue :smash: , then polish out any residue or markings.
