Default How big is my sub? Which sub to buy?

My sub crapped the bed. I don't know if it's an 8" or a 10". Two quedtions:

How do I measure it to tell and
What is a good quality sub to buy to replace the jl I have? I'm looking for a deep bass sound.

You need to know more than just the diameter to get the proper replacement, but if you measure across from bolt hole to the opposite bolt hole, that measurement will give you the 'size'. Find the model number on it if possible.

At a minimum you also need to know: single or dual coil, 2ohm or 4ohm coil(s), RMS (and possibly also peak) Wattage rating.

The number of coils can be seen, and ohm ratings can be measured with a meter, but wattage will have to come from a model number or other info written on the sub itself. If you can't find sub info, what is model number of the amp giving it power?
