I replaced my stock wires with a set of Taylor Spiro Pro's from one of the Forum vendors a couple of weeks ago and am having problems with ignition noise when using the FM section of my stock Bose stereo. I don't get the noise when listening to the trunk mounted CD changer.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to correct it without replacing the wires? If I do have to replace the wires, will MSD's have the same problem?

Hmmm... those are are supposed to be noise suppression wires aren't they? That's the whole point of the spiral winding. Did you by chance change spark plugs also and were they resistore-type?
Definitely sounds like it's broadcasting RF and it's getting picked up by the antenna. It could also be getting in thru the ground- and the antenna lead has a grounded shield around it. The levels out of the CD are much higher so it's signal could drown out the noise. You might try the "pull the connector out so the ground is disconnected but center conductor is still in" test. I just changed mine as well (installed Taylor 8mm) and am getting noise to! :cuss I have no noise when the car is off but get it when I turn the car on. CD's play fine. I would also like to know what can cure this if not I'll put the stockers back in. :smash:

I also recently put Taylor's on my 94 LT1. Soon as I did, the garage door opener stopped working. I took the car to work and had an engineer do RF spectrum measurement on my car - bad news, noise frequencies dancing everywhere! No problem with my radio, but the noise was interfering with the same frequency that my remote control garage door opener was on.
Brought this problem up when I was at The Gathering several weeks ago - no answer to the problem except to return to oem wires.
It seems that each Corvette will react differently to the Taylor's - most experience no problems with RF interference and then others....

Well, I took a look at the propoganda pamphlet that Taylor put in the box with the wires, and I'm still confused. Under their "Spiro Pro Wire Sets" they state that the wires provide "maximum fire power without radio interference". Under their "8mm Pro Wire" they state that "... for racing applications where RFI is not a concern."
I checked under the hood and jackets are clearly marked "TAYLOR Spiro Pro 8mm ... ", so I'd think that RFI shouldn't be a problem. I emailed Taylor, we'll see what they say.

I called Taylor and they put my problem on their "staff meeting" agenda. They called me back and said that they stand by their claims, that the RF interference could not be coming from their wires. I then went back and re-routed every wire, placing plastic tubing around spots that might even remotely touch something - no change, still interference.
One possibility offered was that the interference was coming from the opti-spark. If there is any "spots" in the opti itself where the light fires, this could produce RF interference. The oem wires are just strong enough to suppress but Taylors are not - the interference bleeds through. More energy passing through - more RF potential for passing through.
I am slowly beginning to believe that this may be true.
I'm running the 10mm Spyro Pro wires on my Chevelle with only a very faint bakground noise from the ignition that is only audible when there are dead spots on CDs. I am also running an HEI.
