My little amp box is overcrowded, time for a new one. I've seen a lot of nice installs on here (Like M396's, wow I wish i had the talent to do that!) with the amps exposed, maybe under plexi.
The subwoofer will remain in the prefab box, but be recarpeted. The box will be L shaped and built around it.
Building a "false floor" style box is easiest.
and my amps/crossovers don't LOOK fancy. The xovers are grey with vents, and the amps are blue, flat, and shiny.. they odnt quite match, one is dark blue, the other is REALLY dark blue. I'd probably hide the EQ in any event.
Re: New amp box design, stealth or show off? (DPC5)
I was thinking making an airflow system using fans from 1COOLPC
I have one of the stealh fans i bought from him, and it's great. One in, one out, with directed airflow, or vents at the back.

Either as long as it looks clean. I'm sure you'll do a good job.
You should see my temporary box. The amps are stuck to the floor, the crossovers to the top, wiring strewn everywhere, no fuzes from the block to the amps.. I'm afraid to power it up

yeah this one is going to be VERY clean inside, probably a light grey paint inside, top held down by magnets, hmnn. Maybe have it hinged on both sides..

How exactly will you cool the amp? I'm using a PC fan in my other car, but there's open space for airflow, unlike the vette. Hot air is hot air, whether or not its moving right?
Re: New amp box design, stealth or show off? (bogus)
As you know, my Phoenix Gold amps had fans, and my new Zapco's have variable speed fans which spin faster as the volume or load increases.
Not too sure about external ones......I think the built in fans make for a cleaner more efficient amp overall.
