but it's not the nylon zip inside the mast, something with head unit possibly? seems like when head unit warms up or gets hot , i.e. i'm listening to cd for a while, i eject cd, then press my power on button to raise antanae, alot of the times the antanae goes up 3 to 4 inches then drops back down , changed head unit to another alpine and it still does it, could it be something in the wiring, from which the head unit turns on and starts the antanae up process?? bad ground when hot or something
i don't think i need another head unit, hopefully ! :D TIA
It could be a bad antenna relay or dirty antenna. I'd replace the relay and clean the antenna. I use pedros bicycle chain lube on mine. Doesn't attract dirt, lubes and cleans. The relay is cheap and you should be able to get one from Radio shack if its a standard type relay. I never had to deal with replacing one so I'm not sure. Its located under the carpet in the rear of the storage compartment driver's side.
