Default Anyone mount their tweeters on the dash?

I'm going to be having a new system put in my C5 soon, and will be getting components for the front. I'm wondering if the stock location is the best place for the tweeters.

I'm thinking that placing them on the dash, far forward, and to the sides might be a good location (pointing towards the opposite passenger). Basically, right beside the A-pillar plastic's most forward point, right where the windshield meets the dash. Maybe an inch or two back if necessary.

Has anyone done this? The reason I'm thinking about this location is that the tweeters should not be blocked by my or my passenger's legs, arms, etc. Both tweeters should be unobstructed, or nearly so, for both passengers.

The downside would be that they will be a pretty good distance from the mids. What's worse, having them a few feet from the mids, or having them blocked by body parts? Are there any issues with having them so near the windshield?

Thanks for your opinions.

Sounds great with every type of music. Also I'm running enough power that the sound stage really isn't that noticable of an offset/effect. However on one or two tracks from the Jamiroqui CD when he's going into a solo (no music) followed by the backup artists, there seems to be a slight pull from front/ center to the sides. However I'll be adding another fill tweeter in the kick panels to cure this problem. :yesnod:

Looks like yours are mounted in the middle of the dash. Any particular reason you chose that location vs. the outside edges of the dash? Seems like you would lose the stereo effect for the frequencies the tweeters handle with them both in the middle like that.

Yep, I wanted to bring the soundstage/level up to eye level instead of around the knees. The install has created a "good center channel effect", however, like stated in the previous post I'll be adding a lesser powered set of tweeters to the kick panels to compensate for frequency shift. Other than that my door mid-bass and midrange handle the job pretty darn well.
