Default Strange insall situation in late c4, need your input!

I'm buying a newer 'Vette soon (Probably a 40th anniversary (1993)) and you can't put 6.5's in the doors... the mounting location changed to the kick panels.
Unfortunately, 6.5's dont even come close to fitting there.

Focal doesnt seem to make an individual 5" midrange for sale.
So I'd have to mix and match midranges I guess.

But I'd run the Focal 6.5's in the rear speaker pods (built for 6.5's, about 3 feet behindthe drivers head, level with the ear)
and the tweets on the a-pillars, with 5" midranges in the kick panels

I would attempt to do this:

tweets: 3000hz+
Front 5": 1000hz-3000hz
Rear 6.5: 80hz-2000hz (Since human hearing range peaks around 3000hz, I'd cut it out below that)

And of course, a single 10" sub, forward firing, 80hz low pass, (With a Corvette 40th Anniversary Emblem put on the flat area of the face of the cone (image dynamics))

What do you guys think of this potential set up?

I'm afraid of screwing up imaging by running rear speakers.

You could just build out the current spaces to fit the 6.5s. They will fit diameter wise but not depth wise. If you remove the bose boxes and build your own from MDF and make them 1" deeper, cover them with carpet, and reattach the stock grill over the speakers, it should look stock but with more space. I'm gonna do this soon myself, probably memorial day weekend. What a looser I am.

thats what Polly fill is for LOL!

I was going to say the same thing 92trippleblack said but he beat me too it. :D

Your midbass isn’t directional so it would be best if you could leave it in the stock location if at all possible to draw the bass up front for staging purposes. But the setup sounds really good man.

Where are you mounting the IDQ 10 at? Should look good with the Vette emblem on it. I put a 35th Anniversary Edition emblem on the panel that covers my electronic crossover. :D

I'm imagining all sorts of phasing problems by having essentially a 3-way system + sub spread all over the car like that. In addition to the differing arrival times at the ear, the directions will all be different- especially the mid-bass coming from behind! You want to keep the drivers as close together as possible; just FYI some pro studio monitors mount the tweeter in the center of the woofer cone or use DSP to time-align the signals.

If your doing the tweets up on the A-pillars, you might think about what would fit in the dash and go down to 100Hz or so?

Obviously I need to look at a newer vette to understand moving the speakers from the door to the frame rail. Ya know if it's just a depth issue, those PVC mounts we're discussing will move most of the magnet outside the door...

Actually, human hearing is from 20-20,000 HZ. Remember, hz is expodential so there isn't much difference between 3,000 and 20,000. Subs should stay 120 and below. Real deep bass is below 50. Mids, 50-100 through 2500-3000. Tweets above that. It all depends on your speakers. Every designer is slightly different.

I meant put them back in the door; the speakers would sit on top of the frame rail and not affect the footwell space at all.

I want to put mine in the doors but it means cutting the panels which these days go for $500 a piece. Since I may want to reverse to original, this is not cost effective for me. On the flip side, the stock locations have never been a source of anxiety to me. I rarely have an issue kicking them. I have had some big dopey friends jump in the passenger seat like its an F150 though. :mad
