Hi Kale, it’s me Nomad :D

I made another reply over at Sounddomain for you, check it out and let me know the answers to the questions I asked. I will be able to help you further. ;)

Deflex pads will help with resonance and might be a good idea in your case Kale. :yesnod:

Good Luck! :seeya

What 6.5’s are you running? Also, have you tried the carpet-padding trick yet? We need to come up with a solution that will keep those mids up front where you need them for staging. We’ll figure it out LOL! :yesnod:

Focal Utopia. :yesnod: I like them a lot, but my "listening platform" isn't so hot!

Carpet padding trick?

Carpet padding trick?
After putting SEVERAL layers of Sound dampening sheets on the door frame and door panel, put about Ľ” carpet padding between the door panel and door frame. The padding absorbs a lot of resonance and rattles caused by it. Also stuff the enclosure with as much polly fill as you can, even if it is just a little.

Have you tried putting the mids and tweets in the dash and the midbass in the doors? I explained my front stage setup in another post here. Sorry don't know how to place link to it but it is from someone talking to you about tweets in his doors and he can't hear them. Anyway, that setup works pretty good for me. ;)

Add a 2-way 4" comp set in the dash and keep the 6.5" Focals in the doors?? Would be good sound staging. :D

lol

i dont think i coudl do better as far as sound staging than I have.
The 165 utopia set is LOUD. It will make my ears bleed and 3/4 volume.

I'll probably make some fiberglass panels to run the 6.5's in the late c4
who knows..

the idea is that the late c4 doesn't have door mounts for speakres, just baby mounts in the frame rail.

Yeah my sister has a '95 Vette and I hate those tiny enclosures on the frame rail. But they are workable.

Hey Nomad, what Image Dynamics speakers are you using? I am currently building a box for an IDMAX for my C5.

Right now I have Image Dynamics CXS62, the 2-ohm 6.5” component set. The subs in my C4 are two Rockford Fosgate RFP3810 10” subs. Wired in parallel at 4-ohm mono.

I plan on putting a single IDMAX 12” sub in my C5 also. The IDMAX is great for both SQ and SPL. Gotta love it! :D
 :yesnod:
