Default iPod to 2000 head unit

Does anybody think it possible to hardline a iPhone/iPod USB cord into a stock head unit? I want to do this without getting a car kit or or anything like that. This may help if any of you smarter electrical guy think it's possible

If you have a CD changer in the trunk, click here. If no changer, you need some kind of adapter.

You could get one of these and do this

This is kinda what I'm looking for but I want to use the iPod USB cable instead of a audio cable so it charges too.

Use the pinouts you posted. Buy/splice an ipod cable so you can connect the audio to the changer input, and use other contacts in the ipod plug to splice in a 5v signal that you can get from a hacked power adapter or a $3 5v regulator from radio shack.

they make cables that give you audio out so you dont have to try and hack up an ipod cable and if i recall not all ipod cables have all the wire present in them

That comment shook something out of the cobwebs in my brain, so I went looking through my drawer of semi-useless cables....

I FOUND IT! I have an iogear cable that has an ipod docking connector on one end, and usb, stereo RCA plugs, and a video RCA plug on the other end. After searching my old emails, it's the GIPODAVC6
