Default Should I try 4-8's or stay with pair of 10's

I'm kinda bored right now, looking for something different. The 10's hit like no other, but I like doing the off the wall kinda stuff. Thinking about 2-8's in each side compartment to free up the center well for more cleaning product storage. The 8's, would be in an enclosure that forms around the outer corners of the hatch area as well as using the storage well space. This would allow for the mounting room needed and allow me to still store my top when removal is needed :D . Any thoughts?

What model 10's and amp(s) are you using?

If you want to get some space from the center well ... I know someone who installed 2 10's , one in each of the side compartments ... he used very low powered subs , so I am not sure what you may need ... depending on your size requirements, it may work.

I plan to get some small subs (10's) and put them into the side comparments ... I plan to use the center compartment to store things ...

Originally I was planning on getting a 10W7 ... and pushing it with 500W but after hearding it ... it was too much for the Vette IMHO ... my friend has one in his Tahoe ... but since the car is much bigger it was not as annoying ... personally ... 250W of Sub-Power is enough for me ... so I am going to get 2 JL 8W0's or 10W0's depending on what I like and just push them pretty easy ....

If you seriously love bass ... and want it as loud as possible ... stick with the 10's ... but if you just was SQ ... and SPL is not an issue ... I would go with 2 8's ...

Its only my opinion ... so take it as you wish ... but anything over 500W is just too much power and volume .... IMHO

2*JL10W3D2's and an Audio Art 100HC running 2 Ohm mono. Should be about 830 watts. Tested out to that level by Car Stereo Review about two or three years ago. I've got enough output now, that every damn thing in the car vibrates. Just thinking about something off the beaten path.

My goal was to do a pair of solo-baric 8" in a ported enclosure. When ran on LEAP, just one ported 8" would out-perform the following: two sealed 8" in 1cft, one sealed 10" in 1cft, one sealed 12" in 1cft.

Just decided not to weight down the vette.

Have you seen Independence Audio's Z06, has 2 MB 12" in a ported box, sweet work by the installer.

Is that on 40 Hwy, in K.C.MO., or is that in the Columbia area?

8s won't go as deep. In order to go down as far as you can, you probably want 10s or 12s. You will make more SPL but not go as deep frequency wise.

Depends, if you port, you can tune it as low as you want.
Sealed, yes, it will not play as deep.

Dude, I've already got 10's with enough power to rattle and move everything. I just wanted to see what some people thought of a new idea I have, thats all. But thanks for reply.

Look into this

1 Square kicker Solobaric L7 in a ported box.

Its more Bass than you can imagine.

Hard and Low.

Try Alumapro alchemy subs. They 2 10's will give you all the SLP you need for your vette, but more importantly, they have great SQ for the power and space they require.

8's will not go as deep as a 10. Even high quality 8's.

If you want lots of bass, but want to save room, I would go with a 12" Eclipse Aluminum or Titanium, or 12" Solo-baric. Just one of these subs would be enough if you feed it some decent power. I have the Aluminum with a 1,200 watt Kenwood eXcelon amp, it it hits VERY HARD :yesnod:
