Default 2005 C6 - Looking for ACC 12v rear of car?

Hi guys,

Wiring up a back-up camera and I'm looking for an ACC 12v line in the rear of the car(i.e. Hatch Mechanism). I don't want to wire into the backup lights because I want the ability to run the camera any time.

I started searching connections for ACC 12v with a voltometer, but ran out of day light. I'm sure I can find something tomorrow, but figured I would throw out the question and see if anyone answers.

Thanks,
Anthony

hmmm...interesting. I guess it wouldn't be too hard to find one at the BCM panel. I already have the video line running past it, so I could run a line from there...

There is a constant 12v going into your Xm receiver. It is located next to the rear speaker (driver). Slide the xm box out and tap into the red/white wired. Here is a post from a guy who is tapping into the xm for an aux input. http://www.kawal.net/auxinput.htm

XM box has constant 12v, OP is looking for switched.

If you have onstar, the VCIM is in the passenger side rear cubby, it would also have constant 12v.

The antenna modules are mounted on the rear wall, they have switched power coming from the radio trigger wire, but I wouldn't use it to actually power something. However, a backup camera doesn't use much power, so it might be OK, but I wouldn't risk cooking the radio for it. You can use the trigger wire to pull in a relay, then use one of the constant wires mentioned above to power the camera.

Click here for all of the radio schematics.

Or just run a power wire to the front of the car when you run the video wire

Thanks for the information guys. I think I'm going to run the power wire with the video wire. I'm not fond about running a power wire through the car, but I think this is the safest and easiet bet. I didn't feel like taking the console out this weekend, so this will wait until next weekend.

btw - The Pioneer Z110 looks really good in the car, for an aftermarket HU.
