Default Speaker wiring question (and H/U)

Hey guys, I'm thinking about changing out the front woofers and 3.5" speakers with a set of components, changing the head unit, and adding an amp/sub. My car has the U66 (non-BOSE) and 1-disc cd player.

I've looked around the sticky and searched the board, but I'm still unclear if my car has a factory amp (I believe so?) If it does, would it be possible to buy an amp that fits where it is and use the existing wires that are already ran to the speakers and just run RCA's to the new amp?

Also, if I'm getting rid of the factory amp (if equipped), what harness(es) would I need to install an aftermarket double din?

Thanks in advance for any help.

onstar?

i believe there is only one amp that will fit in place of the oem and its an arc mini 2 channel so it wont do speakers and a sub

honestly its super easy to run new wire to the door speakers its not worth hackin the oem wiring to try and use it

if ur car doesnt have onstar u need the peripheral gmco harness

After seeing all of your responses to others, I was hoping you would respond. No, I don't have onstar. How would that amp be for powering the door speakers and using a mono in the storage compartment for the sub? Also, if I ran new wires to the speakers straight from the headunit, would I just connect the wire straight to the head unit harness and bypass the peripheral harness?

Default C6 ???

The interface adapter just gets RAP controlled power TO the new radio, and the music FROM the radio to the stock amp/speakers (if you still use them). Anything else (new amp, backup signal, dimmer control...) has to be wired outside the adapter.

As said, running new wires to the speakers is very easy, unless you're keeping the OEM amp functional just run new wires.

There are a few more parts you need also, this thread details all of the parts, and this one shows what to do with them.
