I just bought a 2006 convertible with Navigation, phone, on star and an after market blue tooth and XM ipod adapter. I don't like the after market blue tooth. I think blue tooth was an option in later models. Can I upgrade my head unit to a newer unit with bluetooth? If so can I just plug it into my current wiring harness?
Thank you in advance for your comments and experience.
Don't think so. I've got an 09 w/bluetooth. I'm not impressed, when a call comes in the DIC shows the phone #, not the name in the address book on the phone. The factory bluetooth also does not let you stream audio from your Iphone/Ipod/Droid. Think the Kenwoods do. Also think the Kenwood/Pioneer allow you to scroll thru your address book on the HU. GM NAV unit has no phone control.
As one who decided to trash my OEM BLOSE NAV HU I can speak from experience. DO NOT UPGRADE TO AN OEM NAV with BT!! The OEM HU is such a piece of CRAP compared to the awesome gear you can buy as after market. Wheter choosing Pioneer or Kenwood (my choice) and replacing your speakers and amps, the investment will be well worth it and about the same cost. Even Bonnie, my wife agrees that the sound is infinitely better. We now have proper BT, iPod and a way better Nav (Kenwood/Garmin). The car ROCKS with this new setup.
