OK, gonna have totally redone stock 2002 Z06 speaker setup, but know almost nothing about audio electronics, so am going to be asking an awful lot of questions (most will probably be dumb) over the next few days.
One question is what is the best (or I guess most popular) setup for the door speakers? I listen to all kinds of music--want strong treble and base both (not that door speakers provide much base).
Below is a quote from C5 faq, and it seems there are lots of things you can do, just wondering what the best way to go is. BTW, what is a "3-way" component system? Seems like something I should want!
Thanks for any help!
"What size speakers will fit in the doors if i remove the bose speakers?
You can fit practically any size speaker; short of subwoofers, in the doors of a c5. You will need to purchase or build a mounting plate but you will be able to fit a full 3-way component system in the stock location."
Check out posts #3,9,10,32,35,43 of the "What do you run" sticky for pics of aftermarket door setups. #69 has pics of a 3-way setup.
A 2-way 6.5" component speaker in the doors and a sub in the center rear tub are your best bet for minimal cost and ease of installation. Mounting the amp on the rear wall is also easy.
Happy modding
