Default Kenwood DPX503 - Thoughts?

Thinking about pulling out the Bose junk from my '91 ZR-1, and I'm considering the Kenwood DPX503. I hate aftermarket units with illumination color that doesn't match the stock C4 orange color, and this unit has variable colors for the display and buttons, which is nice.

Anyone have any experience or opinion on this unit?

looks a little pricey for what it is, If you like the look then go for it. It also looks like an older unit.
Good Luck

Well, crutchfield pricing is $100 more than it can be had for on Amazon... I know the touch screens are all the rage now, but I hate not having tactile feedback when trying to adjust the unit while driving.

Great, just what I was hoping for :-) How do you like the unit? How is the readability in direct sunlight?

Well, it's actually not mine. My shop installed this a few months ago. I played with it for a while. You can get the color to match very close. If you are familiar with any of the Kenwood stereo's, this is pretty similar. Nice ipod control, customizable display screen. Large buttons and knobs on the front are very simple to use. The customer really liked it.

As for the ipod control -- did you use the front USB port, or the rear port with the special Kenwood cable?
