Default Audio Gurus: need help designing a system for a 02 ZO6

One of our corvette group has asked me to design a few system options for his ZO6. He listens mostly to rock music.

This will be a complete system: head unit, Component fronts, coaxial rears, Full 4-ch range amp Sub and sub amp. I'd like the system to be somewhere in the 500-800w range total.

We're using the following requirements:
- Aux input on head unit
- Easy to use head unit (Alpine is preferred)
- Sub woofer setup ~300w Something similar to the JLw3 series.
- center bin subwoofer box stealth or flush mount
- ease of tuning.

I do not plan to do much if any passive acoustics (around the speakers themselves if any)

I'd like your opinions on what equipment to use in 3 catagories (I will be doing the labor) :
1) < $1000 system
2) < $1500 system
3) < $2000 system

Your votes:
Head unit choice:
Front stage choice:
Rear stage choice:
4-channel amp choice:
Sub woofer choice:
Sub amp choice:

Thanks guys.

double din or not

also look at some 5 channel amps, being a z06 u can squeeze em under the passenger seat. a pdx5 will fit for sure, also if you look i recently did an install for mjlouz06 and we fit an infinity 5 channel under the passenger seat. This would allow for a very stealth install. Talk to nvthis about a sub box.

Prefer single din. I plan to mount the sub amp (or 5 channel) on the rear wall same as mine (pending space) My JL 500/1 fits my targa coupe just fine, but i think I may have clearance issues with the center trunk latch on the ZO6.

Which infinity amp did you use?

I'd go with a five channel amp, use channels 1-4 for your front stage components "active", and run your rear coaxials off of the deck power (as they are for fill ONLY), and the fifth to your sub.

I'm particular to Sound Stream (OLD SCHOOL) 5 channel amps, but I don't if they will fit your application.

If you didn't want to run an active system, bridge the front four channels, run them left & right, and still use the deck for your rears, and the 5th channel to your sub. That way you could keep your gains WAY down, and your s/n ratio at it's highest.

Good luck!

Here's a quick system i came up with. Est parts cost is $1200-1500 (including installation components)

Head unit: Alpine CDA 9835
Front stage: Alpine SPR-17s 6.5" component system
Rear stage: Alpine SPR-13c 5.25" coaxial
Multi Amplifier: Alpine MRV F450
Sub: JL 12x3v2
Sub amp: JL 250/1 V2 mono

This is largely based on brands/models i have experience with, but gives and idea of what I'm looking for.

Thoughts?
