C6 Door Panel Retainer Pins/Grommets??? Pics?

Hey all, Anyone have any details on the likelihood of damaging these pins/grommets when removing the door panels on an 08 corvette and what they look like as far as getting replacement ones other than the dealer? The local dealer wants over 6.00 a piece and they do not have them in stock and I am wondering if I should order them in before I go to tear the doors apart to install these polk 3.5 door speakers. Thanks! FWIW if the c5 pins are the same please let me know as I plan to do the same thing to a c5 z06 after this one.

I think it's pretty much a given that something is eventually going to break. On my C5 I had problems with the female end of the pins pulling out of the door and cracking the fiberglass, and also some of the male pins broke in half, but it wasn't until the third or fourth time removing the panels that the problems appeared. I used superglue to hold the bases in and purchased new male pins from an online GM parts supplier for half of what my local dealer wanted (shipping included).

I've had the doors apart on the C6 twice now without any problems. My fingers are crossed for my next attempt.

I've read on this forum that most local auto parts stores carry replacement pins that can be used. If you end up needing new ones just take one in and visually compare what they have available.

Just give Gene Culley a pm and tell him what you want. He'll fix you up with exactly the right part. I've bought a ton of stuff from him in the past couple weeks, really very helpful and communicates well to make sure you are getting what you need.

I'm doing a complete overhaul of the interior and sound and have everything gutted out of the car. I've not had much breakage except for a couple of the ferrules from the door pulling out and the fiberglass splintering a bit but that will be easy to fix. I ordred a bunch of spares from him in case I break them on the reinstall.
