looks like penta gave you some good tips, there is a sticky at the top of the page that you should give a read, Im installing an avic in my c5 and i dont plan on hooking up the reverse or the vss wire, as i usually dont travel in reverse.

I installed an AVIC N4 in my Z06 and wired up everything.

I would suggest you wire up the VSS at least.

Wiring up the reverse wire was how I found out my reverse lights weren't working.

The switch went bad in the transmission.
