The 2009/2010 Premium Audio System's Aux input jack Ipod connection/Related Too!
I going throught the process of picking out the audio system for a 4LT premium package for a 2009/2010 model and read some of the postings stating that they are not happy with the quality of the Ipod to the HU connection/operation.
Can someone comment on how the Ipod Nano works with the HU; the quality and loudness of the sound reproduction, where it is keep, etc....
I am just guessing that the Ipod is stored in the glove compartment and the Head Unit controls direct access to the Ipod. I have a Kenwood that does this so I don't even know I have a Ipod in the car.
I was going to get the Nav HU and CD changer but it seems they have not up dated the firmware on them to the next generation. Are they worth the purchase of $1,750 and $500?
AM/FM w/CD player & MP3 Playback, XM Satellite Radio, Aux input jack and 7 speakers. Where is the aux input jack located on the back of the radio I assume? And how much is the adopter to connect it directly to the Ipod Nano?
It part of the Preferred Equipment Group where they package interior, audio, etc.... together and you cannot break out of a particular category like audio and say skip it.
Even on a 4LT package the Nav system is still a $1750 upgrade. The in dash 6 disc changer is the 'standard' radio.
Neither of the OEM radios will 'control' any ipods. They just have audio input plugs that you connect to your MP3 players headphone output.
If you want all of the bells and whistles your best bet would be to get the base radio and install an aftermarket head unit that does what you require. For $1750 you can pretty much do anything you want to and have it all integrated in the HU. Get last years model and it won't even cost you $1000 installed.

I agree with Pent and Komo. With the help of these guys and others on the forum, I was able to install a Kenwood HU with dvd. It controls my ipod audio better than the controls on the ipod itself. It's great. I paid around $700 bucks for everything(including XM) and it sounds great.
A lot better than stock.
I agree with those that say skip the factory NAV. With 1750 you can have a kick azz head unit with enough spare cash to purchase a decent amp/sub and main speakers. The same 1750 spent on aftermarket gear will blow away the factory system as far as functionality and sound quality.
