Try this place. They are a forum vendor and their plates are not the normal MDF, but are made of high pressure phenolic laminate.

C5 and C6 plates are actually made by CF member TheKomoman. A few CF vendors carry them.

Do you know who other than the one already mentioned? Prefer to do business with someone else if I can, or I'll just make 'em myself.

Sweet! I can sort it out from there. I was going to use lexan...but got concerned it may be too flexible. I'll snag some mdf and carve them puppies out! Didn't think of that.

my recommendation for mdf is spray paint it or use a sealer because mdf will absorb moisture but the vette doors generally stay dry. I actually installed a set raw wood no paint in a c5 about 5 years ago and was back in the car recentlly to remove the stereo so the owner could sell it and they looked great still

All the CF vendors I know only have TheKomoman's plates. I don't think anyone else is making them unless they are one-off's. www.subthump.com and www.southerncorvetteparts.com also sell the same plates. Both are CF sponsors I believe. If you just don't want any plates made by TheKomoman then I'm afraid you'll be making them yourself.

I would worry that MDF is not a great material to make speaker plates out of since MDF might absorb any moisture in the door and swell up. If you are in a dry climate or you don't drive your car in wet weather I suppose MDF would be OK.

No, I'm fine with the plates that TheKomoman is making, love the material in fact, just prefer a different supporting vendor is all for other reasons.

I'm going to give the MDF a whirl and use some sealant on them...but if the cost of materials approaches the prices of the others I may opt for the easy way out.

Thanks.
