Default Install Speedbumps... last ones I hope!

New issue... I've installed the H/U, have the subs spliced in, and finally have power to it all.

1st question: I have excessive popping from the subs only when they are connected to either the Front Pre-Amps or the Sub-Outs. It happens specifically when you turn the volume from zero to 1, when you switch between sources, and when you use the seek function on the Tuner. I am going to re-ground everything... any other ideas or something else I should consider?

2nd Question: I still have no power on ACC. Must I rewire that as I did the Switch power under the passenger foot rest? Is this the same as the FAQ topic? Or can I not expect to get ACC power with this new H/U?

Last... I've read about the Ground Loop Isolators... If I am reading correctly, they were only recommended when using aftermarket amplifiers. To clear things up that may not have been earlier. I am attempting to install an Alpine H/U and use all the factory components otherwise in a 2003 Z06. Are the GLI's still a good bet?

Thanks again, you guys are a great resource!

Resolved the popping with a ground loop isolator.

Still working on getting ACC power. I am guessing that I need to remove the tap from my #22 fuse and put it somewhere that is powered during ACC operation. Perhaps tap into the lead and have power supplied during both conditions?

If you want to maintain RAP with your new HU you need to buy something like the Accessory Valet

If you just want the radio to turn on/off with the ignition (or key in ACC) then the easiest thing to do is use the YELLOW wire in the passenger footwell as the trigger wire to turn on the new HU. The ORANGE wire is constant +12V, and the BLACK wire is the ground. They are fused, so you should be able to safely use them to power and trigger a HU, but if you install an additional external amp you'd want to wire the constant to the battery through an appropriate fuse.

I don't recall what fuse 22 is, but it sounds like it isn't doing what you want it to.

From your other posts it looks like you're putting in a new HU and using the stock amps/speakers. Right?

What adapter did you use?
